Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
Q. Why wax?
Waxing is the most effective way to remove body hair. Hair is removed quickly, effectively and the treated area will remain hair free for 2 – 4 weeks.
Q. How hot is the hot wax and does it hurt?
Hot wax is heated to 52 – 55C which is comfortable for most people. People with sensitive skin will feel it more but it doesn't burn.

All wax is applied with care and consideration and people will react differently during the treatment. Whereas some like it others might feel minor discomfort just because they have never experienced hot wax before and it is a new sensation. I talk to you throughout any treatment to make sure you are comfortable.
Q. What is the difference between hot and warm wax (apart from the temperature!)?
Hot wax is designed to stick only to the body hair and not the skin; this helps to protect the skin and makes the removal painless. It is also very gentle on the skin, therefore there is usually little to no soreness after. The treatments are complimented with post and pre waxing products.

Warm wax is also known as strip wax and works on the same principal. It is generally used on larger areas and it removes all of the hair including the fine hairs.
Q. How long does it take to wax?
Face - allow up to 10 mins per treatment area (e.g. upper lip) or 20 mins for a full face
Upper body – allow up to 10 mins per treatment area (e.g. underarms) and up to 25 mins for full arms
Lower body - allow up to 30 mins for most treatments
Full body - allow up to 1 hour and 45 mins

Please refer to my price list for a full breakdown.
Q. What do I need to know before my visit?
  1. Have a shower or a wash if you are planning to wax your upper or lower body. You don't need to wash your face.
  2. Wear or bring comfortable clean cotton clothing.
  3. If you are having bikini area treatment, bring clean cotton underwear.
  4. If your hair is long then roughly trim with scissors to around 1 inch
  5. For very sensitive clients: You can take a painkiller such us ibuprofen 30min before your treatment, but there is really no need.
  6. For the best results it is recommended that the hair is a minimum 3 weeks from shaving and/or 4 weeks from your last wax.
Q. I am thinking of booking a treatment, but I have one of the following conditions:
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Haemophilia - A contagious skin condition
  • Scar tissue that is red and tender to touch
  • Sunburns
  • Have taken Accutane within the last 6 months
  • On any skin treatments for thinning skin or blood
  • Any other conditions I should be aware of
Please call me, Gail, before making a booking. My phone number is 07565 068 575.
Q. What makes it so pain free?
Pre waxing oil we apply before wax creates a barrier between the skin and the wax. The wax will not be pulled with the skin avoiding pain; it is only gripping to the hair. For example think of pulling a hair out of your leg with your fingers, it does not really hurt just a little sting. The same theory applies when you remove the wax because you only pull the hair.
Q. What makes it so effective?
Lycon wax shrink wraps around the hair as it dries, this enables the hair to be removed from the root, therefore not breaking the hair and leaving the skin very smooth with the longest possible regrowth period.
Q. Benefits of intimate waxing?
Hygiene – leaves a cleaner finish especially when the weather is hot as body odour is reduced due to the lack of hair in that area. Less skin irritation – shaving and depilatory creams can leave a rash on the treated area. Longer lasting – as the hairs are removed from the root clients should only need to rebook every 4-6 weeks. Making it less painful as well as more cost effective.
