Why wax?
How hot is the hot wax and does it hurt?
Hot wax is heated to 52 – 55C, a comfortable temperature for most people. Before waxing, we apply an oil to create a barrier between the skin and the wax, and minimise discomfort. The wax grips to the hair, not the skin, meaning less pain. The more you wax, the easier it is!
What makes LuxWax so effective?
Our waxes shrink wrap around the hair as it dries, this enables the hair to be removed from the root, not breaking the hair and leaving the skin smooth with the longest possible regrowth period.
What is the difference between hot and warm wax apart from the temperature?
Hot wax is designed to stick only to your body hair and not your skin; this helps to protect the skin and makes the removal virtually pain free. It is very gentle on the skin, meaning less sensitivity post wax.
Warm wax is also known as strip wax and works on the same principal. It is generally used on larger areas and it removes all of the hair, including fine hairs.
How long does it take to wax?
Face – allow up to 10 mins per treatment area (e.g. upper lip) or 20 mins for a full face
Upper body – allow up to 10 mins per treatment area (e.g. underarms) and up to 25 mins for full arms
Lower body – allow up to 30 mins for most treatments
Full body – allow up to 1 hour and 45 mins

Can I have a wax if I’m pregnant?
It is generally safe to have wax after your first trimester. We also offer Lycon waxes especially for expectant mothers of 7+ months.
What covid-19 procedures are in place currently?
We always put hygiene and safe working practices first. During the Covid-19 pandemic, all staff must wear a mask and we have put in additional sanitation protocols including increased frequency of sanitisations. We will provide hand sanitiser, a disposable mask and check your temperature on arrival. If you have a temperature of 37.8C or higher, access to the salon will be denied.
If you don’t feel well and have Covid-19 symptoms in the days before your appointment, please contact us so we can reschedule and offer the appointment to someone else.
