Waxing in Hampstead

Waxing is a method of removing unwanted hair from the root. Wax is applied to the treatment area and removed along with the hair, leaving the skin smooth for longer than shaving.

Waxing removes hair from the root rather than cutting it at skin level, so the results generally last longer than shaving or depilatory creams. It also leaves the skin feeling smooth without the short stubble that can appear soon after shaving.

The results of waxing typically last between 2 and 4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. Since the hair is removed from the root, it takes longer to grow back compared to shaving, where hair regrowth is more noticeable within a few days.

Our hot wax is heated to around 52 to 55°C and its temperature is checked before application. We apply oil beforehand to help create a protective barrier between the wax and your skin. Hot wax is designed to grip the hair rather than stick strongly to the skin, which can make it more comfortable on sensitive areas.

The waxes we use are formulated to grip the hair closely as they set, helping the hair to be removed cleanly from the root rather than snapping at the surface. Combined with the technique of our experienced therapists, this helps achieve a smooth finish and longer-lasting results.

Hot wax sets around the hair and is removed without a strip. Because it grips the hair more than the skin, it is often used on sensitive areas and for thicker or more stubborn hair.

Warm wax, also known as strip wax, is applied thinly and removed using a strip. It is particularly useful for larger areas such as the legs, arms, back and chest, and works well on finer hair.

The duration of a waxing session depends on the specific treatment area. Here are the approximate time frames:

• Face: An upper-lip wax takes around 10 minutes, while a full-face wax may take around 20 minutes.
• Upper body: Underarms typically take up to 10 minutes, while a full-arm wax may take around 25 minutes.
• Lower body: Most lower-body treatments take up to 30 minutes.
• Full body: Allow up to one hour and 45 minutes for a full-body wax.

In most cases, yes. But please let our team know before your appointment so we can adapt the treatment or advise you on whether to wait. Tell us if any of the following apply to you:

• Diabetes
• Epilepsy
• Haemophilia
• Red or tender scar tissue in the area being treated
• Sunburn
• Use of Roaccutane (isotretinoin) within the last six months
• Any medication or treatment that thins the skin or blood
• Any other condition you think we should be aware of

Yes, we offer waxing during pregnancy, although your skin can become more sensitive at this time. Please let your therapist know that you are pregnant when booking so we can recommend the most suitable wax and make your treatment as comfortable as possible.

Yes. You can still have a wax while you’re on your period, although you may find your skin feels slightly more sensitive than usual. If you’re having an intimate wax, please wear a clean tampon.
