How To Prepare For A Wax
Here are some tips on how to get the best results from your waxing. By waxing regularly you will see less hair re-growth and any hair that re-grow will be finer. To maximise the benefits of waxing and enjoy hair-free skin you should wax every 4-6 weeks. It can take up to 4 treatments to see the best results.
Personal Hygiene Before Your Appointment
Take a shower before your appointment. Wear clean cotton underwear if you are having a bikini or intimate area wax. Intimate wipes will be available in the toilet and the treatment room, so please use them.
Hair Length Before Waxing
To get the best results from your waxing you should let your hair grow. When waxing the ideal hair length is between 1mm and 20mm in length or preferably with 5 to 6 weeks of growth.
Avoid the urge to shave or pluck your hair before in-between appointments.
What If I Am On My Period?
This is a very common question! Don’t worry it’s not a big deal, we can’t control these things. You can still wax yourself if you wear a fresh tampon. Tampons are available in the bathroom if you need them.
Helpful Tips
Facial waxing – Have a clean face with no makeup. A normal moisturiser is fine.
Underarms – Shower and trim excessive hair in the morning before you come. No deodorant before or after the appointment. Loose clean cotton clothing is recommended.
Arms – Shower and exfoliate your arms without any creams, lotions or oils applied prior to your session. Remove any jewellery. Wear loose clean cotton clothing.
Chest and Back – Shower and trim long hair. Do not apply any lotions to your skin and bring a clean loose cotton shirt with no collars to avoid rubbing.
Bikini – Shower, exfoliate and trim long pubic hair, but not less than an inch (20mm). Wear clean cotton underwear.
Male intimate – Wash and trim where possible. Bring clean cotton underwear and loose comfortable trousers to wear after your appointment.
Leg waxing – Shower and exfoliate before your appointment. Wear loose comfortable trousers. Do not use any lotions, or moisturisers on your skin.
Plan Your Diary!
As your waxing appointment approaches you should consider the rest of your day after waxing and manage it accordingly. For up to 48 hours you will want to avoid any excess rubbing or exposure to the sun. If you are waxing before your holiday then do it at least 2 days before you travel.
Aftercare
Your skin can be sensitive after waxing. Reactions such as slight soreness, small bumps and redness are normal and will subside within 24-48 hours.
AVOID ANY OF THE FOLLOWING FOR 24 HOURS OR UNTIL YOUR SKIN RETURNS TO NORMAL
Touching or scratching the treated area with your hands. Baths, showers and swimming pools. Do not use talcum powder, perfumed lotions, antiperspirants or deodorants. Avoid wearing tight clothing.
After intimate waxing avoid jeans, lace underwear, sexual intercourse or anything that might irritate the treated area.
IN THE FIRST 48 HOURS AVOID
Do not expose your skin to UV rays and do not use fake tan on the waxed area. Do not exfoliate on or around the treated area.
ADDITIONAL ADVICE
Always follow the recommended aftercare advice given to you by your waxing therapist.
If required we recommend you use Aloe Vera to soothe your skin. Applying an ingrown hair solution daily will prevent and treat ingrown hairs. Moisturise your skin daily and apply UVA protection on sunny days with SPF30 or more. Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week with sugar scrubs to remove dead skin.
